Welcome to River City Ministry
River City Ministry (RCM) is a 501© 3 faith-based human service and community organization that is solely dedicated to the poor, oppressed and
outcast of our society. Since its beginning in 1989 at Silver City Courts in North Little Rock it has moved through several phases of development,
from being housed in an abandoned business on Main Street, a small church building on 15th Street, an old abandoned residence at 511 Cypress Street,
and finally in a new 4,000 square foot facility at 1321 East Washington Street in North Little Rock.
RCM is a faith-based ministry. Our mission is to reach the hearts of people with the gospel of Jesus Christ. To aid our mission we provide food to
the hungry, clothing to those who need them, medical care to those that do not have access to medical insurance, help for children, and jobs for
those who want to work. RCM serves daily lunches (Monday – Thursday), has a food pantry stocked mainly from the Rice Depot, Arkansas Food Bank
and U.S.D.A. Also, many organizations, schools, churches and individuals provide a resource of food for the food pantry. Clothing is collected
from individuals and churches for distribution and made available from a converted school bus that is used as a “rolling closet” to take into the
community where this need is obvious. People can board the bus and shop for their sizes and needs at no cost to them.
RCM continues to provide medical care, counseling, adult literacy education, and a daily lunch in addition to the food pantry. In 2001 a two-chair
dental clinic and an eye clinic was added to our services. There are an average of six medical clinics and five dental clinics per month. The Eye
clinic is open one day per month.
RCM is staffed by eight individuals and is overseen by a 14 member Board of Directors, all who are Christians. We also have a host of volunteers
(over 200) composed of people who have a faith-based initiative for working at RCM.
RCM is very much a work in progress. In addition to the continuation and growth of health and human services already in place, employment training
and mentoring, youth development and technology training, and family coaching are being planned. We also look forward to a Jobs Partnership Program
which is supported by urban churches. We are blessed to have a LCSW on staff at RCM to provide needed Social Services to the needy.
RCM is a place where churches, organizations, business, and individuals unite to make a difference in the heart of our cities.
We invite you to join us in our mission to meet needs, build capacity, and grow community.
